Eve Prang Plews
Eve Prang Plews lived a life that was nothing short of extraordinary. Born on the Ides of March in 1947, Eve began her journey in San Francisco, only to be adopted shortly after birth by World War II veteran Arthur Van Valkenberg and his wife Susan. The couple brought her to Florida, where she grew up under the warm sun and near the inviting waters of the Gulf. Her childhood in Pinellas Park was filled with the wonders of nature, and Eve grew to love the birds, wildlife, and landscapes that would forever anchor her to the state she called home.
Eve's path through life was one of continuous growth, exploration, and an unwavering desire to serve others. After graduating high school, she delved into the world of cosmetology, quickly becoming a master hairstylist and later, an international stage artist for Redken. |
Her talent in this field not only garnered her recognition but also honed her public speaking skills, setting the stage for her future roles as a motivational speaker and radio show host.Yet, it was a personal health crisis that steered Eve toward her true calling.
As a young woman, she began researching alternative remedies to improve her well-being, a journey that led her to the works of Linus Pauling and the transformative power of Vitamin C. Her own healing ignited a passion to help others, and she immersed herself in the study of medical botany, herbalism, and various healing traditions, including Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Eve's quest for knowledge was relentless, and it led her to study under esteemed mentors like Dr. Luc Chaltin, who inspired her to master homeopathy.

In Sarasota, Eve channeled her passions into Full Spectrum Health, a holistic clinic dedicated to nurturing the body, mind, and spirit. As a licensed Nutrition Counselor, she spent thirty years helping clients navigate the path to optimal health. Her wisdom extended beyond the clinic as she took to the airwaves, becoming one of the founding programmers at WSLR, where she hosted "No Nonsense Nutrition" for a decade. Later, her insights reached even more listeners on WMNF’s "The Health and Nutrition Show," which eventually became an NPR Podcast.
Eve’s influence spread far beyond the confines of Sarasota. She became a sought-after speaker at seminars for physicians, advocating for holistic approaches in healthcare. In 2013, she became one of the first clinicians to earn certification as a Functional Medicine Practitioner, joining a vanguard of professionals dedicated to integrative health.
Her compassion knew no bounds. Eve worked tirelessly to support HIV-infected individuals through the "Healthy People With Aids" initiative, sharing strategies for longevity and quality of life. She was a passionate educator, eagerly accepting speaking engagements to spread the message of personal and planetary health. Eve was deeply committed to environmental causes, most recently focusing on the United Nations "Clean Seas Project" to combat oceanic plastic pollution.
A true global citizen, Eve’s curiosity and love for life took her around the world, and she explored the universe as an accomplished amateur astronomer. She reveled in the beauty, challenges, and joys of life, always transforming her experiences into something profound and meaningful. Eve seized every moment, turning the ordinary into something extraordinary, and leaving behind a legacy of humor, insight, and compassionate wisdom for those fortunate enough to have known her.
